Optimization is the science of making the best possible decision in a given situation. This technique is extremely powerful when a client wants to minimize or maximize some value while being constrained by resources. For example, a transportation company might minimize shipping costs while meeting all fulfillment requirements, labor laws, and vehicle maintenance. Similarly, a factory might optimize the number of hours every employee should work to maximize output.
Modern data analytics is not Excel. Modern data comes in forms once never considered: emails, written text, audio recordings, pictures, and so much more. We convert atypical data into a digestible medium and produce data visualizations that increase understanding for both clients and their potential customers.
Not every company possesses enough internal data to employ advanced data science techniques… yet. This service is geared toward companies who want to learn data gathering, storing, and management techniques to ultimately scale into a data-centric enterprise.
The story of the DORCs began four years ago at the United States Military Academy where
Bennett, Charlie, and Iggy met while studying in the Mathematics Department. Following graduation,
they were each given the opportunity to attend graduate school in Boston while conducting research
at Lincoln Laboratory
and Draper Laboratory.
Joined by their common passion for mathematics, they decided to apply their talents and
interests to help businesses operate more efficiently. Thus, DORC Services LLC was born.
After graduate school, the DORCs will serve in the U.S. Army—Bennet and Iggy as Infantry
Officers in the 173rd Airborne Brigade and Charlie as a Cyber Officer.
Harvard Computational Science, ME
The primary skill that Charlie brings to the team is a deep understanding of the
application of computer-aided systems to solve real-world problems. His knowledge
in computational science, Data Science, and algorithmic thinking gives him the tools
to turn raw data into actionable information.
Charlie's undergraduate experience included research opportunities in Data Science,
outlier detection, and cyber security. The result of his work was three applications
with advanced statistical techniques that are currently being used today.
Charlie is fluent in R, Python, C/C++, SQL, Mathematica, Matlab, and Scala programming
languages. He is also experienced in web development (HTML, CSS/SCSS, Javascript/Typescript,
D3, etc.) - he designed and built the website that you're looking at right now!
MIT Operations Research, MS
Iggy has a passion for using mathematical techniques to create a concrete impact on
the world around him. As an undergraduate, this passion drove him to create novel
algorithms for modeling groundwater flow as well as improved college admissions
models that employ automated text analysis to make more objective and equitable
decisions. Now, he is researching machine learning techniques affecting military
cyberspace.
Iggy is an expert in mathematical fields such as probability, optimization, machine
learning, Data Science, and natural language processing. Despite this broad technical
background, Iggy's greatest strength is his ability to not only solve problems but
also communicate solutions in a way that makes sense.
Iggy is fluent in R, Python, Julia, Mathematica, and Matlab programming languages.
MIT Sloan, Master's of Business Analytics
Bennett's expertise on the team involves translating cutting edge mathematical
programming into tangible business value. His technical expertise includes
optimization based machine learning, predictive statistics, and data visualization.
Bennett's mathematical undergraduate research involved assessing and optimizing
drone-defense systems. Additionally, he created a manuscript surveying the most
advanced sports statistics. In his econometric research, he analyzed both the
effects of court costs on recidivism rates and the effect of same-sex/same-race
mentoring on retention and performance in Army.
Bennett is fluent in R, Python, Stata, SQL, and Julia programming languages.
